{"id":58,"date":"2008-07-01T23:56:02","date_gmt":"2008-07-01T23:56:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/solveeczema.wordpress.com\/?p=58"},"modified":"2008-07-01T23:56:02","modified_gmt":"2008-07-01T23:56:02","slug":"toms-of-maine-sls-free-toothpaste","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/solveeczema.org\/eczemablog\/?p=58","title":{"rendered":"Tom&#039;s of Maine SLS-free Toothpaste"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Here&#8217;s cause for celebration: \u00a0Tom&#8217;s of Maine has launched a new line of SLS-free toothpastes. \u00a0They are made of simple, straightforward ingredients. \u00a0No detergents. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomsofmaine.com\">www.tomsofmaine.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomsofmaine.com\"> <\/a><\/p>\n<p>More cause for celebration: some have fluoride. \u00a0These may very well be the only non-detergent (and no-sorbitol) toothpastes with fluoride out there. \u00a0(For people who don&#8217;t want fluoride, there are no-fluoride options, too.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">I have only one reservation &#8211; and only because I don&#8217;t know enough yet, not because there is a problem. \u00a0The pastes in this line all contain a foaming agent called glycerrhizin, which I have not been able to adequately check out. \u00a0It appears to have an impact on membrane permeability, but I cannot figure out whether it might have a positive effect here, a negative effect, or perhaps may not be of concern. \u00a0From the things I&#8217;ve read so far, there may be no straightforward answer for us short of just trying it out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Bottom line &#8211; spot test it first before using, and talk to your doctor if you have any concerns. \u00a0We did a spot test, and so far so good. \u00a0Yay!
